Visual Editor for Template Design of Electronic Patient Record

Well-designed templates of electronic patient record (EPR) are efficient for consistent and standardized records. Template definition language (TDL) 1 , which can represent the content and structure of EPR template, was developed to promote sharing of templates among clinics and institutions. TDL is one of the many applications of XML therefore a TDL document is a human-readable tagged text and is platform-independent. However, for the medical workers who are not computer experts, it is difficult to edit an EPR template with a text editor or an XML editor. Therefore a visual TDL document editor (VTDE), with which we can edit a TDL document and can visually check the content and structure of EPR template, is indispensable.
